Fans of live music in Omaha often ask for show recommendations, and both Lawrence and Lake Street Dive consistently top the list. Seeing these two powerhouse acts share the stage at Steelhouse Omaha was nothing short of spectacular. While perfection is a bold claim—and the bands might humbly admit to a missed note or minor fumble—their electrifying performances masked any imperfections, leaving concertgoers buzzing. Here’s why this night was a standout in Omaha’s 2025 concert scene.

Led by siblings Clyde and Gracie Lawrence, Lawrence is an eight-piece soul-pop outfit from New York City that’s been captivating audiences with high-energy performances. Formed in 2016, the band channels influences from legends like Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin, creating a sound that’s nostalgic yet fresh. Their 2024 album, Family Business, featuring the Top 40 hit “Whatcha Want,” has elevated their profile, with appearances on The Tonight Show and The Kelly Clarkson Show. Having toured with acts like the Jonas Brothers, Lawrence brought their infectious energy to the Good Together Tour at Steelhouse Omaha on Sept. 12, 2025, setting the stage ablaze for Nebraska music fans.

Lawrence kicked off the night at Steelhouse Omaha with a dynamic set that had the crowd on their feet from the first note. Their 12-song performance was a masterclass in soul-pop energy, blending originals with clever covers. The setlist included fan favorites like “The Heartburn Song,” “23,” and “Casualty,” alongside the groove-heavy “Misty Morning” and the Top 40 hit “Whatcha Want.” Their playful cover of The Beatles’ “Get Back” brought a nostalgic vibe, while a surprising take on Britney Spears’ “Toxic” had the Omaha crowd singing along. Tracks like “Shot,” “Guy I Used to Be,” “Hip Replacement,” and “Do You Want to Do Nothing With Me” showcased their tight horns and Clyde and Gracie’s vocal chemistry. Lawrence topped of the nigh with the uplifting “Don’t Lose Sight,” and capped it off with “Whatcha Want”. Lawrence set a high bar for the night, proving why they’re a must-see act. It could have ended right there. But Lake Street Dive was about to be the gift that kept giving.

Formed in 2004 in Boston, Massachusetts, Lake Street Dive has carved out a niche with their eclectic blend of soul, jazz, pop, and folk. Known for their infectious energy and frontwoman Rachael Price’s powerhouse vocals, the band has evolved from their early days at the New England Conservatory of Music to headlining major venues worldwide. Their 2024 album, Good Together, showcases their knack for crafting feel-good yet thought-provoking tracks.

Lake Street Dive took the stage and delivered a headlining performance that was equal parts soulful and electrifying. Their 19-song set, plus collaborative performances with Lawrence, was a testament to their versatility and stage presence. Kicking off with the upbeat title track “Good Together,” they wove through new hits like “Stop Your Crying,” “Better Not Tell You,” and “Hypotheticals,” alongside fan favorites such as “Lackluster Lover,” “Hush Money,” and “Better Than.” Rachael Price’s vocals shone on introspective tracks like “Baby, Don’t Leave Me Alone With My Thoughts” and “Twenty-Five,” while the band’s energy peaked with “Party on the Roof” and “Dance With a Stranger.” Covers of the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back” and Shania Twain’s “Still the One” brought nostalgic fun, and their collaboration with Lawrence on “Help Is on the Way,” Lawrence’s “Do,” and a cover of Daryl Hall and John Oates’ “Rich Girl” created unforgettable moments of synergy. Closing with “You Go Down Smooth” and “Good Kisser,” Lake Street Dive left the Omaha crowd buzzing, solidifying their reputation as a powerhouse in Nebraska’s 2025 live music scene.
