The Bourbon Theatre in Lincoln, Nebraska was in for a night of “terrifying funk from beyond the grave” last night with Here Come the Mummies. They brought Nashville band Post Sex Nachos with them on tour and it was a night full of great music, great people, and spooky vibes. HCTM is a funk-rock band while PSN is a genre-bending pop-rock-indie band. They mashed together well and the crowd seemed to agree. If you have not seen HCTM, you really should. I feel that everyone should get to experience their show at least once, or multiple times as it never gets old. The crowd was engaged throughout the entire show, dancing, singing along, and genuinely having a great time. There were people from all age groups in attendance and everyone was genuine and ready for some funky tunes. Both bands gave fantastic performances and I did not want to leave.

Post Sex Nachos is a five-piece from Nashville, Tennessee, and consists of Mitch Broddon on lead guitar, Sammy Elfanbaum on vocals and rhythm guitar, Kevin Jerez on keyboard, Chase Mueller on bass, and Hunter Pendleton on drums. They stretch genre boundaries and create music that makes you want to sing along. Post Sex Nachos is a band I can see gaining huge traction as their music seems to be enjoyed by everyone. They already have hundreds of thousands of streams on their songs, but I could see them gaining millions. At the start of the show, not many people knew PSN. By the end of their set, they had the entire crowd dancing; singing along, and I guarantee more than just one person left as a new fan. I watched their vinyl fly off the shelf after their set! You can’t help but smile while watching them. They’re talented, charismatic, funny, and make some great music. During the set, they played their biggest hits including Talk About It, Mushroom Cloud, and Growing Old. Every part of the band was on point. Sammy’s vocals are great. He's able to play guitar, get the crowd involved, and sound amazing. Mitch shreds on the guitar and hits every note. Chase is so enjoyable to watch on bass. He adds to the music and the performance and looks like he’s having fun on stage. Kevin goes crazy on the keyboards (there were multiple) and is possibly one of the most essential members. PSN adds important elements into their music that Kevin is responsible for, and does a great job. Lastly, Hunter is super fun to watch and genuinely looks like he’s having the time of his life behind the drum kit. The entire band sounded and looked amazing last night, even after they had a rocky start to their tour (thousands of dollars of equipment stolen from Wichita, luckily, they have gained thousands of dollars in donations from their loyal fans). I got the chance to see them at Lollapalooza, which was a huge show for them. Their performance last night, to me, was even better than Lollapalooza! I would go see their show again in a heartbeat. They had good spirits, and good music, and brought a great start to an amazing night. If they were able to have merch, I would have bought some, and I am sure many other people would have as well. However, you can still get merchandise and support them on their website, postsexnachos.com. Also, be sure to check out their latest album “Prima/Vera”, released earlier this year.

Here Come the Mummies is a legendary 8-piece funk-rock band also from Nashville. They’re known for their amazing performances and the fact that they are mummies! The members remain anonymous but consist of Mummy Cass, Eddie Mummy, K.W. Tut, Spaz, The Pole!, Midnight Mummy, Dr. Yo, Highlander, and HPOD (High Priest of Death). Legend has it, that they were cursed after deflowering a great pharaoh's daughter. They have several instruments on stage and many of the members play multiple things. The instruments included are vocals, guitar, bass, keys, tenor sax, bari sax, trumpet, tambourine, talk box, and other various forms of percussion. HCTM has been together and touring since the early 2000s and has released 10 studio albums and a few other projects. At the beginning of their performance, they have a signature way of going on stage. They always do a drum line through the crowd, which is one of the best parts of the show. All the fans get excited about this part and love watching them get up on stage. They start the show with so much energy, and there is constantly something new to look at. You never really know who to focus on because they all bring their flare to the show. One of the things I noticed immediately was how in sync they were. They do a phenomenal job of playing together, and you can tell they have had years of practice. The choreography was synced perfectly with each other and the way they can do all of these things while playing instruments is cool. It is not just music, it is a show. They throw drumsticks at each other and catch them every time. They ate a pizza and even shared some with the crowd, told stories, engaged the crowd, flew flags, and so much more. It is difficult to explain how they perform, you just need to see it for yourself! Not only is the show amazing to watch, it is also amazing to listen to. What more could you want? Also, it was a great way to kick off the fall and Halloween seasons. As a spooky connoisseur, I thought they did a great job of bringing the spooky vibes while still keeping the show fun and friendly. The saxophones and trumpet add jazz elements to the music and it is one of my favorite parts. The percussion is one of the most essential parts of the show, and they amaze me every time. The vocals are awesome, the guitars sound great, and they even have their pharaohs come help them out on stage. Be sure to get yourself to a Mummies show if you have not been to one. It is a great time regardless of the music you listen to. They will be on tour throughout November, and even have a KC show you all could get to if you missed last night's show!
