Good Trip Tour Lights Up Lincoln's Pinnacle Bank Arena on April 21, 2023

By Mitch West

The Good Trip Tour, presented by Smokers Club, brought an electrifying night of hip-hop to Lincoln, Nebraska, on Friday, April 21, 2023, at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Featuring Smoke DZA, Chevy Woods, Berner, Joey Bada$$, and headliner Wiz Khalifa, the concert delivered high-energy performances and unforgettable vibes. However, logistical issues at the venue hindered the press experience, impacting the ability to cover the event fully.

Pinnacle Bank Arena Press Challenges

Despite arriving early, press members faced delays at the Will Call booth, waiting for an escort to the photo pit. Access was only granted midway through Berner's set, with cameras temporarily confiscated, limiting coverage to the final two songs of his performance. After the third song of Wiz Khalifa's set, press were abruptly escorted out of the venue. These organizational hiccups at Pinnacle Bank Arena prevented a comprehensive review of the entire show, a recurring issue for media covering events at this venue.

Joey Bada$$ Brings Love and Hip-Hop to Nebraska

Joey Bada$$ electrified the crowd with his signature introspective lyrics and old-school hip-hop aesthetic. Known for his critically acclaimed 2012 mixtape 1999, which revitalized East Coast hip-hop, Joey has since released B4.DA.$$ (2015) and All-Amerikkkan Bada$$ (2017). His performance included a heartfelt tribute to fallen hip-hop legends, followed by a lively "Kiss Cam" moment celebrating couples in the audience. "Love is a mothafuckin' feelin'!" Joey exclaimed, encouraging fans to light up the arena with lighters and cellphones during his closing track, "Love Is Only a Feeling" from All-Amerikkkan Bada$$. The Nebraska crowd embraced the love and energy Joey brought to the stage.

Following his Lincoln performance, Joey Bada$$ continues the Good Trip Tour with stops in the United Kingdom, Belgium, The Netherlands, France, Ireland, Portugal, Germany, and Switzerland, before returning to the U.S. for Lollapalooza in Chicago. Wiz Khalifa Closes with Stoner Anthems and Nebraska Pride

Wiz Khalifa capped the night with a high-energy set, opening with "No Sleep" from his 2011 album Rolling Papers. Sporting a custom unbuttoned Nebraska Adidas shirt, a diamond-studded Taylor Gang medallion, and a Khalifa Kush blunt, Wiz commanded the stage with his laid-back flow and stoner anthems. Known for hits like the Grammy-winning "See You Again" (2015) and his entrepreneurial ventures, including Khalifa Kush and Taylor Gang clothing, Wiz had the crowd vibing with thick smoke and green-lit energy. His smile reflected his surprise at the enthusiastic Nebraska fanbase, creating a party atmosphere that resonated long after the show.

The Good Trip Tour concluded on April 22, 2023, at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. Fans can catch Chevy Woods back in Nebraska at the UNK Health & Sports Center with Yung Gravy. Stay tuned for Gallery Space Media's exclusive interview with Chevy Woods, coming soon.
