Shinedown Delivers Electrifying Performance at Pinnacle Bank Arena

By Mitch West

LINCOLN, Neb. — 104.1 The Blaze celebrated its 30th anniversary in style, bringing the "Revolutions Live Tour" to Pinnacle Bank Arena on April 25, 2023. The lineup featured rock heavyweights Shinedown, Three Days Grace, and From Ashes to New, delivering a night of high-energy performances and heartfelt messages. This tour, supporting Shinedown's chart-topping seventh album, Planet Zero, also partnered with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, donating $1 per ticket sold to support mental health initiatives.

From Ashes to New Ignites the Stage

From Ashes to New, a Lancaster, Pennsylvania-based rock band formed in 2011, opened the night with a dynamic set. The band, featuring Matt Brandyberry, Danny Case, Beau Bokan, and Parker Nelson, has released three studio albums: Day One (2016), The Future (2018), and Panic (2020), plus an EP in 2015. Known for their genre-blending style, they’ve toured with acts like Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin.

Lead singer Danny Case energized the crowd, with Matt Brandyberry expressing gratitude: "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Thank you to everyone who came early to watch our set." Their setlist included Nightmare, Heartache, Hate Me Too, My Name, Panic, Crazy, and closed with Thru It All. Having first seen them in 2021 at Omaha’s Waiting Room Lounge during P.O.D.’s Satellite 20th Anniversary Tour, their arena performance showcased their growth and intensity.

Three Days Grace Brings Nostalgia and Resilience

Canadian rock band Three Days Grace, formed in 1997 in Toronto, Ontario, delivered a nostalgic yet powerful performance. With hits like I Hate Everything About You, Never Too Late, and Pain, the band—currently led by Matt Walst, who joined in 2013—has seven platinum or multi-platinum albums and multiple awards, including four Juno Awards and two American Music Awards.

Their set resonated with themes of community and mental health. Walst’s message struck a chord: “No matter what obstacle is in front of you, keep climbing. Climb that mountain! Mental health is so important right now. If you know someone struggling, reach out!” The crowd chanted “Riot!” in unison, culminating in their 2006 hit Riot from One-X, a powerful end to their set.

Shinedown’s Unforgettable Performance

Shinedown, led by Brent Smith, proved why they’re one of rock’s most successful bands, with seven platinum albums and hits like Second Chance, Save Me, and Simple Man. Their performance featured stunning audio, lighting, fire, and pyrotechnics, amplifying the energy of Planet Zero tracks like Dead Don’t Die and A Symptom of Being Human.

Smith connected with the audience, encouraging unity: “Look to your left. Look to your right. You may not know those people, but you will now. Shake their hand, hug ’em—we’re all together.” Their setlist was a journey through their discography, including Diamond Eyes, Bully, If You Only Knew (The Sound of Madness, 2008), Planet Zero, I’ll Follow You, Unity (Amaryllis, 2012), State of My Head, Cut the Cord (Threat to Survival, 2015), Monsters, Get Up, Devil (Attention Attention, 2018), 45 (Leave a Whisper, 2003), and Second Chance.

A Night of Community and Rock

The "Revolutions Live Tour" was more than a concert—it was a celebration of music’s power to unite and uplift. Shinedown’s partnership with AFSP highlighted mental health awareness, while Three Days Grace and From Ashes to New reinforced messages of resilience and community. For fans of rock concerts in Lincoln, Nebraska, this was an unforgettable night.

The tour continues with stops in Fort Wayne, Indiana (April 27), Milwaukee, Wisconsin (April 29), Minneapolis, Minnesota (April 30), Bozeman, Montana (May 3), Spokane, Washington (May 6), Everett, Washington (May 7), Portland, Oregon (May 9), and the Blue Ridge Rock Festival in Virginia (Sept. 7-10).
