Joined by DJ Willie Wonka, DJ Rich Lee, Bayo, and Juice Lord, the sold-out show was a high-energy celebration of Minnesota hip-hop. With only two dates left on the tour, this stop proved to be a standout, showcasing Prof’s lyrical prowess and dynamic stage presence alongside a talented lineup.

DJ Willie Wonka Sets the Stage

Minneapolis-based DJ and producer DJ Willie Wonka kicked off the evening with a high-octane mashup of classic hip-hop tracks, instantly energizing the crowd. Known for his work with artists like Talib Kweli, Common, and Lupe Fiasco, Willie Wonka’s charismatic presence and interactive style made him more than just a DJ. He commanded the stage, engaging the audience and even spraying cash into the crowd during a later appearance with Prof. His ability to set the perfect vibe made him an essential part of the Workhorse Tour’s success in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Bayo’s Uplifting Performance

Rising Nigerian-American MC Bayo, now based in Los Angeles, brought a soulful blend of hip-hop, R&B, and Nigerian influences to the stage. Accompanied by DJ Rich Lee, Bayo’s smooth flow and introspective lyrics resonated with fans of Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, and Anderson .Paak. His 2017 mixtape The Road Less Traveled and 2019’s The Journey have established him as an artist to watch. Reflecting on his first tour, Bayo shared, “Being a part of it all, seeing everyone perform, and learning what makes them great has been the most impactful moment.” His positive, uplifting set was a perfect start to the night.

Juice Lord’s Grit and Glamour

Hailing from St. Paul, Minnesota, Juice Lord delivered a commanding performance that blended East Coast hip-hop influences with the raw energy of the Twin Cities scene. Having opened for artists like Saba, Freddie Gibbs, GZA, and Jay Electronica, Juice Lord’s set, also backed by DJ Rich Lee, painted a vivid picture of his journey from the streets to the stage. His discography, including 5/5 (2020), 6/6: The Forever EP (2020), Spread Luv Tape: A Point of Light (2021), and The 8th Inning EP (2023), showcases his ability to uplift and inspire. His unrelenting stage presence captivated the Lincoln crowd.
